Jimoto no Gaijin

Who am I? Since 1985,a resident of Ajigasawa, a small town on the west coast of Honshu, Japan- yes, way up there near the top, in Aomori Prefecture. Problem? I've got the wrong face (Canadian Celt). People still give a start when they round the supermarket aisle and see me. So, who am I? Jimoto no Gaijin- the local foreigner.

SUVs again...

Can You Read This? Do You Want To?

It is useful to have wheel covers like this to amuse drivers behind you at stop lights, I suppose.
Who writes these things?
Lie down out there in nature.. just look out for poison ivy and yellow jacket nests and thistles and red ant's nests and..... I'm not sure your welfare and development are foremost on their agendas.
Lately I've been thinking about Jesus' parables. Most of them have agrarian themes.Being farm-raised, I get most of them, but I'm not so sure about my auditors. Not many of them know a lot about life beyond the sidewalks. No offense, it's just that it sort of puts you out of touch with most of humanity which has gone before you, and much of humanity in places less financially blessed.
If you have a chance, slow down for a few minutes, sit in a park, and see what other life forms around you are doing at the moment. It can do great things for your perspective on life.

Hello John,

Nice blog! I came upon it by searching for Aomori in google and eventually landed here after hitting a few links off other peoples pages.

Any advice to a fellow Canadian who just got a job offer to come teach in Aomori? I'm from Vancouver, so the snow does seem like it'll be a bit of an adjustment!
