Jimoto no Gaijin

Who am I? Since 1985,a resident of Ajigasawa, a small town on the west coast of Honshu, Japan- yes, way up there near the top, in Aomori Prefecture. Problem? I've got the wrong face (Canadian Celt). People still give a start when they round the supermarket aisle and see me. So, who am I? Jimoto no Gaijin- the local foreigner.

Rabbit's busy day

"Rabbit's busy day" is Elliotese for a manic schedule. Sunday, March 11, 2007 was such a day for me.
This is Goshogawara Church, our mother congregation's building. It is a 45 minute drive from home, and I spoke at the early morning service there (7:30 am).

This is our buiding in Ajigasawa. I returned to have a study with a member at 9:30, followed by speaking at the 10:30 service.

This is the Kanagi Chapel building, 50 minutes to the north. I spoke at the 3:00 pm service.

And, this is the Itayanagi Chapel building. I spoke at the 6:30 pm service there (in English), after a 45 minute drive down from Kanagi.
Not such good timing, as I have a polyp on my right vocal cord, and am not supposed to be talking too much!
However, Pastor Igarashi (Goshogawara) had the week off, and Messers (Kanagi) and Ghents (Itayanagi) are on Home Assingment, leaving yours truly the last one standing till the end of June! Thankfully, there will be no repeats of the 4-a-day marathon (though there will be 2 3-a-day 0nes).
Occasionally we are called upon to make such efforts. I am thankful for the many people who pray for us here. Still, it is good to remember the Psalmist's cautionary words : "In vain you rise up early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat- for He grants sleep to those He loves". (Psalm 127:2)
