Old Houses I have Known
Every month I make the trek to Luke and Yuko's place- 200 km (125 miles). This is to have a church service in their home. Incidentally, I get to see my granddaughter- a great perk! I enjoy the drive, as it is interesting to see the changes month by month. There is such a variety of scenery, and a lot of interesting buildings- if, like me, you happen to be interested in buildings. This time around I stopped to get pictures of two houses that have caught my notice.

They are rare leftovers of the post-war, clapboard siding type.

This one also has a magnificent tree in front of it. Styles in siding went from clapboard to stucco to cement board. Now some people are going back to clapboard, because the new houses are so weather-tight that the air inside goes bad and makes the occupants sick. Which just goes to show: if you keep something long enough, it may come back into style!
