Jimoto no Gaijin

Who am I? Since 1985,a resident of Ajigasawa, a small town on the west coast of Honshu, Japan- yes, way up there near the top, in Aomori Prefecture. Problem? I've got the wrong face (Canadian Celt). People still give a start when they round the supermarket aisle and see me. So, who am I? Jimoto no Gaijin- the local foreigner.

Tradition,Tradition!

We love the movie "Fiddler on the Roof". Our traditions are very different from those of Russian Jews, though!
We are now into the third generation of Lego users. Laurie's Grandma Robin gave us some money when we were in Japanese language school (1979-80), and we used it to buy Duplo Lego for Luke amd Anna. My wife thought maybe I had really gotten it for myself- I had only regular Lego when I was a child. One of my favorite things to do was to use all the blocks to make a tall tower- then the kids would knock it down.

So- since Luke and Yuko got Duplo for Grace, I felt I should introduce her to towers. She was moderately impressed.
